Everything you need to know about using Tracehub Shopify app for Digital Product Passports and ESPR compliance.

Getting Started

Installation

  1. Install Tracehub from the Shopify App Store
  2. Authorize the app to access your product data
  3. Sync your products to automatically create Digital Product Passports

Click "Sync Now" on the Dashboard to import your Shopify products

Review DPPs

Check the Products page to see your Digital Product Passports

Add Theme Blocks

Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize to add passport blocks

Use AI Auto-Fill or manually complete passport information

Product Sync

Tracehub automatically syncs your Shopify products to create Digital Product Passports (DPPs). Each product gets its own passport with a unique QR code.

Automatic Sync (Webhooks)

Products are automatically synced when created, updated, or deleted in Shopify. No manual action required.

Manual Sync

Click "Sync Now" on the Dashboard. Use for initial setup or to force a refresh.

Synced- Product is up to date
Pending- Sync in progress
Error- Sync failed (check product data)

Digital Product Passports

A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital record containing sustainability and compliance information about your product. Required by EU ESPR regulations starting 2027.

QR Codes

Each product gets a unique QR code that links to its public passport page. Customers can scan to view material information, sustainability credentials, care instructions, and recycling guidance.

Theme Integration

Add Tracehub blocks to your Shopify theme to display passport information on product pages.

Installation

  1. Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize
  2. Navigate to a product page template
  3. Click Add block and find Tracehub blocks under "Apps"
  4. Configure block settings and save

AI Auto-Fill

AI Auto-Fill uses GPT-4o-mini to automatically populate DPP fields based on product title and description, product type and tags, vendor information, and product images.

Using Auto-Fill

  1. Go to a product's passport page
  2. Click "AI Auto-Fill"
  3. Review and approve generated content
  4. Save changes

Batch Auto-Fill

  1. Go to Products page
  2. Select products
  3. Click "Batch Auto-Fill"
  4. Review results

ESPR Compliance

Data & Privacy

Tracehub is committed to protecting your data and maintaining full compliance with EU data protection regulations.

Our Role as Data Processor

When you use Tracehub, we act as a Data Processor under GDPR. This means:

  • You (the merchant) remain the Data Controller of your product and customer data
  • We process data only according to your instructions and for providing our services
  • We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures
  • We do not sell, share, or use your data for purposes other than providing the Tracehub service

How We Handle Your Data

Storage

All data is stored on EU-based servers with enterprise-grade encryption at rest and in transit.

Retention

Product passport data is retained for up to 10 years to meet ESPR requirements. You can request deletion at any time.

Access

Only authorized personnel have access to your data, with strict access controls and audit logging.

Sub-processors

We use carefully vetted sub-processors (cloud hosting, AI services) all compliant with GDPR.

FAQ

Do I need technical knowledge to use Tracehub?

No. Tracehub is designed for non-technical users. Installation and setup take minutes.

Does Tracehub work with all Shopify themes?

Yes. Theme blocks work with all Online Store 2.0 themes. Legacy themes may require manual integration.

Why aren't my products syncing?

Check that webhooks are properly configured. Try a manual sync from the Dashboard. Contact support if issues persist.

Is AI-generated content accurate?

AI content should be reviewed before publishing. It provides a starting point based on available product data.

Is Tracehub compliant with ESPR?

Tracehub helps you prepare for ESPR requirements. Final compliance depends on accurate data entry.

Can I downgrade my plan?

Yes. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle. Excess products become read-only.
